Aims and Scope
Hong Kong Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal devoted to original, intersectional and cross-disciplinary research on Hong Kong affairs from multiple fields in the humanities and the social sciences, including but not limited to literature, linguistics, cultural studies, sociology, politics, history, education, and gender studies. With international advisory and editorial boards, we are the world’s first bilingual academic journal to focus on “Hong Kong” as a central subject of analysis, and contribute to defining the scope, development, and shifting dynamics of the field of Hong Kong Studies. Teachers, scholars, researchers, journalists and students interested in the developments of Hong Kong will find this journal a comprehensive and indispensable reference.
The journal publishes original research articles, themed critical examinations, reflective dialogues and book reviews spanning Hong Kong's social, political, cultural, historical, and media landscapes. As an area studies journal, Hong Kong Studies connects local scholarship with broader global theoretical debates, and facilitates rigorous analysis of alternative narratives, regional peculiarities, and transnational connections.
We welcome contributions from social scientists, humanities scholars, and researchers worldwide. We also organize symposiums regularly with topics (e.g. “Hong Kong and Elsewhere”, “Teaching Hong Kong, Hong Kong Teaching”) and curate special issues, so please look out for calls for submissions.

3. Decisions: Based on reviewer feedback, the editorial board will issue a decision (Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions/Resubmit, or Reject). The identity of both authors and reviewers remains completely confidential throughout the entire process.
